2012: Nice Start

I totally had another post being worked on, but I deleted it. Was kinda rubbish. In the immortal words of Milhouse Van Houten: “Everything’s comin’ up Milhouse!”

Yes, I have had some great news this last week and have had some great times over Xmas and New Year.

I guess the first bit of good news is that after seeing a throat specialist – and getting a CT scan done – I don’t have throat cancer. Woo for me! That was 2 and-a-half months of my life needlessly stressing about some weird pain in my throat. Turns out – according to the Doc – it’s probably caused by… stress! Well, initially a strain on a tendon or muscle or something and then complicated by stress tensing it up even more. Would have been nice to be able to get in to a specialist straight away and not have to wait 2 and-a-half months to find out. These are the hassles of being an ex-smoker. You’re constantly worrying about things like that as you get older.

But I digress. Yay for me! (And there’s item #35 off my bucket list.)

The second bit of good news is that I picked up my Canadian visa and permanent residency this morning from the post office. BOO-YAH!! So, the next time we step foot on to Canadian soil (which will be mid-year when we move back there) I will be an official Canadian permanent resident. I’m very excited. (Seriously, he is, he just doesn’t show it very well. – Ed.) Quiet you. (Whatever you say, boss. – Ed.)

My wife and I also enjoyed some relaxing times over the Xmas and New Year break. Here be some pics…

An evening shot of the fishing boats at Lakes Entrance, Victoria.

Boats for hire at Lakes Entrance, Victoria.

Inside the Royal Cave at Buchan, Victoria.

Yarn bombing at Warburton, Victoria.

Some sort of vent with a Possum  on it at Warburton, Victoria.

A bunch of other pics can be found here (in all their crappily compressed Facebook glory) maybe here on Google+ (if that link works).

I’ll have some other things to throw up soon but I’m not going to spend all day on this computer. I shall bid thee farewell.

Damien, out.
